About the Film Review
The first glimpse of this movie will make you feel it to be a horror genre which after watching will not permit you to go alone to your washroom but it is not so as the story is more of a fairytale which has been designed beautifully. Basically, the film is more for the children but then also adults can watch and enjoy. This film does not only have entertainment but inside the layer many messages have been portrayed, like it has been shown that women wear a lot of ornaments. Does it make them complete and satisfied? This has been beautifully presented in the movie. Second message which has been well portrayed is the caste problem in village. Coming to the story in short, a teenage boy who is suffering from a psychological disorder have been prescribed by the psychiatrist to go to a village. His family takes him to a village and after going there he encounters a lot of supernatural activities. Is this energy harming the kid or just entertaining him in his psychological imbalanced state? To know this, you have must go to the theatres and watch the film.
- Acting Part
The first positive point is that the portraying of the messages in the film. When you throw a message directly it looks like you are imposing your extra knowledge but when a message under the layer submerges with yourself and get portrayed with emotions, then the story takes a beautiful turn in itself. The same happened in this film. Ritwick Chakraborty whom we see playing the role of a Dehati, comedy injected in his character goes well. Jaya Ahsan is playing the lead role of “Bhootpori.” The balance between the ghost and fairy has been beautifully maintained. Jaya Ahsan did justice with her character. Shantilal Mukherjee is also playing an important role which he did pretty well. The best part is that how well the director has portrayed the kid. The life of the kid who comes all of a sudden from city to village, the innocence, the playful activities and the behavior is beautifully portrayed by Soukarya Ghosal. In many scenes audience can connect to such layers. The selection of the kid to play the character as well his placement in the film is a treat to watch.
- Scripting & Technical Part
According to me, the script writing is good as well. Nothing has been shown over the top or no as such complex dialogues implemented. The scripting follows a simple pattern. Since the full story is village oriented the dialogues used sounds good and appropriate. Coming to the technical part, Editing plays a very crucial role in fairytale stories because scene balancing completely depends on editing. Color gradation is also eye catching. In few scenes where a spooky flavour exists, there dark color tone has been used. When the ordinary village life is shown, the editor has well worked on the white balance as well. If we judge the film just from the point of view of color grading, it is definitely a hit in box office. In many scenes spooky and spine-chilling background score has been implemented. There is no as such suspense here which we get in horror films and indeed this is not a horror film completely. Since it is more of a fairytale-oriented, the entertaining background music necessary has been incorporated by the director.
We have read many such stories and seen in films many a times but not in Bengali cinema. Mostly we see such films which are Hollywood and Bollywood concentric. The story is not so unique but it’s presentation on screen looks beautiful but I feel the presentation of the story is not sufficient as it should have been. There is no problem if the story is small but the climax has not properly been developed. Question may arise why such a ending? What it tried to convey? Why such climax? These questions can be quite evitable from the audience. If the chemistry between the kid and the ghost, the kid and Ritwick been properly developed the radius of the film could have enlarged a bit.
Verdict
The overall movie is not bad as the attempt to make such a simple story-based film is courageous. This is the overall review but to be noted whatever I said lastly Is not negative rather I personally felt some things could have been different. Do go to the theatres at your nearby places and watch this beautiful film. You will surely love it. Bengali Film Reviews gives authentic information on Bengali movies and web series.
