Byomkesh o Durgo Rahasya Trailer Review

Plot: Byomkesh o Durgo Rohosya is an upcoming Bengali film that revolves around the famous detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The film is based on the story "Durgo Rahasya," which is one of the most popular stories from the Byomkesh Bakshi series. Byomkesh recalls the murder mystery of historian, Ishan Chandra Majumder, where Byomkesh tries to uncover the mystery behind the untimely death of Professor Ishan Chandra Majumder, while also investigating a buried treasure and series of unnatural deaths in the Singha family.
The film has been directed by Birsa Dasgupta which stars Dev as Byomkesh, Ambarish Bhattacharya as Ajit and Rukmini Maitra as Satyabati in lead. Besides this, the film also stars Rajatava Dutta, Shantilal Mukherjee and Satyam Bhattacharya.
According to the trailer, the making of the film looks quite promising as it holds the mystery. Coming to the technical part, the first thing I would mention is the Cinematographer’s camera angle where he has shown old fortress, temples and houses in a wide angle. The location selected is beautifully explored, most probably near Madhya Pradesh or Jharkhand. But there are many controversies regarding the location with that of Srijit Mukherjee upcoming web series Byomkesh featuring Anirban
We can also see a shot through the jungle from jeep’s point of view as well as a shot where we can see people are running as if a country has been portioned. This monochromatic shot makes the scene more compact. Hats off to the cinematographer for his perspective.
Coming to the editing part, the editor has beautifully scaped the shots ignoring jump scares and a wonderful colour palette throughout the film giving it a warm tone holding the mystery throughout the film. The background music has also been beautifully scaped throughout the film. The Vfx has given the film a realistic touch, like in one of the scenes we can see a snake is biting.
Lastly, from my point of view I will add the Byomkesh we all have seen from childhood left an impression for his sharp features, holding a cigarette, wearing a dhoti whether we talk about Abir Chatterjee as Bymokesh or Jishu Sengupta, even Sushant Singh Rajput, all carried that persona. Specially the best Byomkesh I will mention is Rajit Kapoor. But in this film experiment has been done with Dev on his outlook.
The trailer looks promising. Now waiting for the film release. I will back again with the film review of Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo as soon as it hit the theatres. Stay tunned and keep watching Bengali Film Reviews for latest updates

Being a beloved figure in Bengali literature, Byomkesh Bakshi has now returned to the big screen in the upcoming film "Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo." Inspired by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's iconic detective character, this enthralling movie brings to life the captivating story of "Durgo Rahasya." Known for its popularity among fans of the Byomkesh Bakshi series, this tale takes us on a thrilling journey as Byomkesh delves into the mysteries behind the untimely death of historian Ishan Chandra Majumder. Unveiling a buried treasure and investigating a succession of inexplicable deaths in the Singha family, Byomkesh finds himself entangled in a web of secrets and deceit. Directed by the talented Birsa Dasgupta, the film boasts an exceptional cast including Dev as Byomkesh, Ambarish Bhattacharya as Ajit, and Rukmini Maitra as Satyabati. Adding to the brilliance, Rajatava Dutta, Shantilal Mukherjee, and Satyam Bhattacharya also grace the screen with their performances. Get ready to be immersed in the gripping world of Byomkesh once again!
Based on the trailer, the film holds a promising sense of mystery that is sure to captivate audiences. The technical aspects of the film are worthy of mention, particularly the cinematographer's skillful use of camera angles. One standout moment showcases an expansive view of old fortresses, temples, and houses, all captured in a wide-angle shot. The chosen location is expertly explored, most likely near Madhya Pradesh or Jharkhand, lending an added layer of beauty and intrigue. However, controversies surround the location due to its similarity with Srijit Mukherjee's upcoming web series, "Byomkesh," featuring the talented Anirban Bhattacharya. Additionally, the trailer showcases a thrilling shot from the perspective of a jeep, navigating through a dense jungle, and another shot depicting people running as if a nation were being divided. The monochromatic colour scheme heightens the intensity of these scenes and contributes to a feeling of compactness. Kudos must be given to the cinematographer for his unique and captivating perspective. Moving on to the editing, the skilled editor has artfully crafted the shots, skilfully avoiding unnecessary jump scares. The film maintains a warm tone throughout, thanks to a carefully chosen and wonderfully cohesive colour palette. This further enhances the air of mystery that permeates the entire film.
The background music in the film is expertly curated, adding an immersive layer to the storytelling. Furthermore, the visual effects bring a realistic touch to the film, evident in the scene where a snake is seen biting. From my personal perspective, the enduring image of Byomkesh we have all grown up with, featuring sharp features, a cigarette in hand, and dressed in a dhoti, has left a lasting impression. Whether it be Abir Chatterjee, Jishu Sengupta, or even Sushant Singh Rajput, all actors have managed to carry that distinctive persona. Of course, we must mention Rajit Kapoor as one of the best portrayals of Byomkesh. However, in this particular film, an exciting experiment has been done with Dev's interpretation of the character's appearance. After watching the promising trailer, we eagerly await the release of "Byomkesh o Durgo Rohosyo." Rest assured, I will provide a comprehensive film review as soon as it hits the theatres.
