"Yes, I have embraced the opportunity to return to Bengali cinema after a hiatus of five years," declares the ethereal Raakhee Gulzar. Known for her serene presence, the acclaimed actress shares her sentiments on her upcoming project, "Amar Boss," directed by the duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. In an exclusive conversation, Raakheedi admits, "Given a choice, I would prefer the tranquility of my farmhouse away from the public eye. However, the persuasive insistence of Nandita and Shibo, coupled with a compelling script, drew me back." The shooting for the film is scheduled to commence in January.

Reflecting on her previous Bengali film, "Mukti," in 2018, Raakhee di recalls making an exception due to the socially relevant themes explored in the adaptation of Moti Nandy’s classic novel, "Bijolibalar Mukti." Addressing communal and caste issues alongside the rights of a 70-year-old Brahmin widow, the film resonated with her.

As discussions swirl around whether this marks a new chapter in Raakheedi’s career, she dismisses the notion. "I was always a reluctant actress. I still am," she chuckles, her laughter echoing the air. Despite her reservations, the magnetic pull of a compelling narrative has once again lured Raakhee Gulzar back to the cinematic canvas, promising audiences another glimpse of her timeless talent.
