Shabash Feluda Season 1 webseries review :

A gripping web series based on the popular novel "Gangtoke Gondogol". The story kicks off with an unexpected twist when the renowned perfumer SS Selvankar, also known as Arindam Sil, meets a tragic end in a suspicious road accident in the mesmerizing city of Gangtok. However, before his untimely demise, Selvankar manages to acquire a priceless ancient Tibetan idol called Jamantak from a simple Bengali man named Nishikanto Sarkar, portrayed brilliantly by Rudranil Ghosh.
As the seasoned detective Feluda, played by the talented Parambrata Chatterjee, and his trusty sidekick Topshe, portrayed by Rwitobroto Mukherjee, embark on their much-anticipated holiday in Gangtok, they unexpectedly encounter Shashadhar Bose, expertly portrayed by Ritwick Chakraborty. Bose, an employee of the late Selvankar residing in Mumbai, seeks Feluda's assistance in unraveling the mysterious circumstances surrounding his employer's demise, as it becomes increasingly evident that the accident was no ordinary mishap.
Now, you may be wondering why Bengali detective stories continue to thrive on the screen. The answer to that question is rather simple: the timeless allure of these iconic characters. Satyajit Ray's "Gangtoke Gondogol" was crafted back in the 1970s, one of the initial Feluda tales spanning a mere 150 pages. However, it is remarkable how these detective stories continue to captivate audiences even today.
When Gangtoke Gondogol was crafted, the beloved character of Lalmohan Ganguly had not yet graced the screens. However, some enthusiasts suggest that Nishikanto Sarkar was Satyajit Ray's earliest impression of this iconic personality. Nevertheless, Ray chose not to depict either Nishikanto or Lalmohanbabu as mere jesters. Sadly, Arindam Sil and Rudranil's portrayal of Nishikanto is unbearably boisterous and clown-like, leaving a lot to be desired. It is fair to say that Nishikanto's characterization stands out as a sore point in this production.

On a more positive note, Gangtoke Gondogol successfully captures the mesmerizing beauty of picturesque Sikkim through its masterful camera work. The production team also deserves commendation for their efforts, as the overall quality is truly praiseworthy. The background score seamlessly complements the story, but regrettably, the title track loses its charm after just two episodes.
In conclusion, "Shabash Feluda" Season 1 is an electrifying web series that not only pay homage to the beloved character created by Satyajit Ray but also introduces a new generation of viewers to the thrilling world of detective mysteries. The enthralling plot, superb performances, and stunning cinematography make this series a must-watch for both fans of the genre and newcomers alike.
