About the Film Review
I watched both Dunki and Pradhan but before delving into the review let me say you since we Bengalis are not from Southern states therefore our emotions towards our artists is missing. We Bengalis have the tendency of swaying away in emotions but we all should not sway away from Bengali films. Besides watching Dunki, support Bengali films and do watch Pradhan
Those who have watched the trailer or teaser they are quite aware with the story. There are not much twists in the plot but definitely you will find emotions. The story goes like this- A police inspector takes transfer and comes to Dharmapur which is a corrupted area. A school master and his wife is trapped in the web of corruption and to solve this problem Dev enters as Deepak Pradhan, a police officer. This is the overall story.

Positive-Negative & Technical Part
Firstly, I will dive into the base level that is script. Thos e who had watched “Tonic” and “Projapoti” they are well aware that both the film is family oriented
Here also the central theme is based on family drama but the scale has increased than that of Tonic and Projapoti. Those two films were just family oriented and this film highlights a full village. You will see two sides of this film- one is his personal life which is twisted and the other being the social side. Since he is an officer, how he is clearing the junks in the society is the major fundamental aspect. These two differences have been highlighted in the screenplay which is definitely a positive point. In today’s society we are filled with corruption and these corruptions most of us face in everyday life. Many of us fall victim and remain silent in such situations. These fundamental aspects is shown the film.
If I talk about the storyline, it is not unique or something out of the blue but the way it has been presented makes the film special. Did the movie strike the audience? I will say few emotions in the story definitely touches us. This is why I kept this in the positive list because with the pace of the story the emotions are well built which draws audience attention. Talking about the script since it does not focus a larger-than-life view as we saw in “Bagha Jatin” or “Byomkesh”, a practical and daily life routine has been focused rather than adding any masala and the most important positive side is the making of the film. Director Avijit Sen has beautifully presented the blend of family drama and social issue going around in our society. The two things working simultaneously adds a different flavour to the film. The emotions in family drama, the social aggression all is beautifully working. The technical part like the editing, color gradation and cinematography has worked well. I am not saying a masterclass effect but not cliché. Humorous fact is that nowadays we cannot think about any masterpiece when we talk about Bengali Movie Industry. This is the overall positive list specially focusing on the making and technical part
As I was saying this film reflects some social problems in the society which we humans face and no doubt that is quite well presented but practically in today’s world when such problem occurs we don’t get any help that moment. Cinema in itself is a medium and language of such protest. Question is does such protest comes in right time? Afterwards, we love to hear stories but then the linkage with reality breaks. I felt the same while watching the movie. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say.

Acting Part
Coming to the acting, there are renowned actors who have acted in this film. We see them in daily movies and web series but honestly audience gives acceptance to those artists who blend with the story and perform brilliantly. I personally felt that in this film every actor was busy with their own character instead of creating a connection with their co-stars. If in a football team all eleven players gets busy showcasing their solo performance then there are no chances of winning the match. Individually everyone has done well but the unity is lacking but I will say instead of renowned faces the junior artists drew my attention. In one scene you will see a boy holding an umbrella when Deepak Pradhan was standing. His expressions and gestures worked really well. We don’t talk about such artists but their on-screen presence supports our lead heroes. Another thing I would mention but not in details to avoid spoiler is that in few scene homage has been introduced to give a comic relief. It will work on those who have watched “Tonic” and “Projapoti”, definitely those scenes entertained me.

Background Music
Coming to the background music, each has their own perspective when it comes to background music. Overall background music is good but a song has been used which carries different perspectives from different critics as to why such song has been made. I personally liked the song but if we see Hollywood films or any other film from different States, we see songs used less. When we talk about practical life, we don’t require so many songs and if we again consider what Rabindranath Tagore said, “What we cannot express through vocabulary, we express through songs” so few may think that the songs are necessary to be kept and few might think that it is irrelevant but I personally felt the songs are quite soothing and relaxes our mood

Verdict
So overall what I saw and felt shared with you and the rest you people have to see and judge on the same. It will be subjective. Some may like some may not but above all it’s a request go and watch Bengali films and save our culture. Being a critic, I will definitely focus on this and comment whether you liked or not but before go and watch the movie.
