About the trailer review:
The trailer captures the historical time of 1955 when everyone was praising Satyajit Ray for his achievements. Everyone was talking about Pother Panchali. Satyajit was getting honoured. On the other hand one man was an absolute failure and that was none other than Mrinal Sen. In the year 1955 Mrinal Sen failed drastically with his debut film Raatbhor, starring Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. But with his second film Neel Akasher Nichey, he proved his mettle. After this his film Baishey Shrabon got him international recognition. After this there was no looking back. Now let me talk about the cast of the film. As we see in the trailer, the character of Mrinal Sen is played by Chanchal Chowdhury. The young age of Mrinal Sen is played by Korak Samanta. The character of Geeta Devi is played by Monami Ghosh. And the role of Satyajit Ray is played by none other than Jeetu Kamal. Earlier we have seen Jeetu kamal portraying the role of Satyajit Ray in the famous film Aparajita. Now let me talk about Chanchal Chowdhury. Chanchal Chowdhury in the role of Mrinal Sen is simply outstanding. All throughout the trailer his acting mesmerizes us. In the last scene of the trailer it is shown that Mrinal Sen broke down due to extreme failure. He was constantly facing ups and downs. He was facing the mirror and was absolutely without any clothing. That sequence is there in the trailer. However that shot is captured from the back. This particular scene, which depicts the legendary director in such a helpless state, is going to move the audience. Now let me talk about Monami Ghosh. Monami is a contemporary actress. But she is an absolute natural in the character of Geeta Sen. There is a dialogue in the trailer of Padatik. Mrinal Sen is saying that "I will quit film making. I have not learnt to tell stories and I cannot tell stories. For me the job of medical representative was perfect." This dialogue is delivered by Chanchal Chowdhury so effortlessly that it seems that he is really feeling all the pains, all the rejections faced by Mrinal Sen. This dialogue is sure to make the audience teary eyed. Now let me talk about the colour gradation and editing of the trailer. The colour gradation of the film is simply fantastic. There is constant use of monochrome and this is done to show the contrast between the past and the present. This creates a nostalgic feeling. That era is captured beautifully through glimpses of Kolkata streets, tea stalls, etc of the 1950s. These sights are definitely touching the audience. The background score of the trailer is conveying the theme of never giving up irrespective of the defeat. While hearing this music at the backdrop you will visualise Mrinal Sen's struggle, you will truly feel proud as a Bengali. All the scenes of Mrinal Sen's struggle are giving goosebumps. How he struggled to narrate a story, how he fought relentlessly; all these things are beautifully captured in the trailer. He loved Bengali films, stood by it and took it to a greater height.
Verdict:
I think the film is going to do really well at the box office because Mrinal Sen is an emotion to the viewers. Moreover, the film is directed by Srijit Mukherji and boasts of a stellar caste. So all of you please go and watch the film and let us know your opinion.
