Oti Uttam- Mahanayak is back in action and that is just too good!!
About the story: The story line of the film is quite intriguing. Here there is a guy who is doing his PhD on sociological impact of Uttam Kumar's smile.While in the process of doing the Phd he suddenly feels that this PhD thing is already enough; how will it be if Uttam Kumar can be called back with the help of planchette? With this idea in his heart, he calls upon the spirit of his idol, the late Superstar Uttam Kumar, via a sèance. He also seeks help in wooing Sohini, the girl he is hopelessly in love with. Surprisingly, Uttam Kumar agrees to play cupid, but on his own terms! What happens next? To know that you have to watch the film.

About the film review: Let me now talk about the film in details. Talking about the positive points there are many positive points in this film. The biggest positive point is Uttam Kumar himself. At the beginning you may feel that the way Uttam Kumar has been used in this film, that technical part is not very good. But how his presence has been made to feel in the movie that is just awesome. In the movie everyone's performance is very good. All the chemistry have worked in an excellent manner. In the way the comedy has been developed in the first half of the movie, all that has really worked for the movie.The comedy in this movie has walked very nicely specifically in the first half. In the second half the film enters and emotional zone. The first half itself actually takes the audience to a different height, so much so that the audience will gladly sit through the second half even if there are some small mistake.
The acting Part: the main cast comprises of Anindya, Gaurav Chatterjee, Roshni . That apart there are subhasish Mukhopadhyay, laboni Sarkar and others. Everyone's performance is excellent. And I am saying this repeatedly. The comedy in this movie has walked very nicely specifically in the first half. In the second half the film enters and emotional zone. The first half itself actually takes the audience to a different height, so much so that the audience will gladly sit through the second half even if there are some small mistake.
I am telling this again that in this movie how Uttam Kumar is brought back to silver screen by using roto and how it has been implemented throughout the movie is just outstanding. The script design is good. Srijit Mukherjee is actually very good with the humour and in all his writings there are lots of humour. In this movie too, there are lot of humour and all of them have worked in favour of the movie. I am going to mention one particular scene where Labani Sarkar is introduced to Uttam Kumar. And there is this scene of serving food to Uttam Kumar and the scene is particularly fantastic because laboni Sarkar knows who she is actually going to feed. So before coming in front of Uttam Kumar she actually sees herself once in the mirror. The way this particular scene is depicted is absolutely awesome. You all know, that from 8 to 80, everyone was a fan of Uttam Kumar everyone was in love with her. Here Laboni Sarkar is brought to that era and this scene is beautifully depicted. Shubhashish Mukherjee has very small screen time but even then he is quite good. And most importantly here the chemistry of Gaurav and Anindya has worked fantastically.
The scripting and Technical part: Now what is mention worthy is this film's music. The background music of the film is quite good because the kind of background score which is used in the comic scenes, that is really good. And more over there are few songs in the film which are really going to touch a chord with the audience. Particularly the song which is sung by Upal. The lyrics of that song entails various names of Uttam Kumar's films. That song is really good and that the end there is a song sung by Anirban Bhattacharya, which is bound to touch your heart. Prabuddga Banerjee has really done a good job with the background score of the movie. This is one big positive point for this movie. Now let me talk about some small negative points of the film. If I talk about the technical part of the film, how roto has been used to bring back Uttam Kumar to life, there is definitely some flaws there. But I won't consider it as a negative point because this is for the first time that this technology has been used in a Bengali movie. Thus I won't consider this as a negative point. But what is negative point of the film is when the film enters a little emotional genre in the second half, that part is not actually touching the audience that much. And most importantly how the film progresses. Gradually a film must reach a logical point. The way the film proceeds in the first half very spontaneously, that's spontaneity is a bit missing in the second half.

Verdict: After a long time we get to see that the release of a Bengali film has led to a full house early in the morning and all the viewers after enjoying the film, have come out of the theatre with a smile on their face. The film is really nice. The entertainment factor in this movie is quite high. And that I think is Srijit Mukherjee's biggest victory. Those of you who have already watched the film in the theatre, I am sure that they all are going to agree with me that after a long time there is really good Bengali movie.
