Mithun Chakraborty and Debasree Roy Reunite After 14 Years
'Shastri' First Poster Out
The highly anticipated Durga Puja release Shastri has unveiled its first poster, bringing together veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Debasree Roy on-screen after 14 years. Released by Surinder Films, the poster teases a film that promises to capture the audience’s imagination this festive season. Directed by Pathikrit Basu, Shastri is based on the short story Dolgobinda Babur Choshma by Debarati Mukhopadhyay. The project is a joint production between Surinder Films and Soham Chakraborty’s Soham’s Entertainment.
Mithun and Debasree, celebrated for their chemistry in the 1982 hit Troyee, were an iconic pair in the '80s and '90s. Their last collaboration was Shukno Lanka in 2010. Shastri also boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Saswata Chatterjee, Kanchan Mullick, Kaushik Sen, and Anirban Chakrabarti. Soham Chakraborty himself is expected to play a pivotal role.
The screenplay, written by Arnab Bhaumik and Aritra Bandyopadhyay, delves into the intriguing conflict between science and astrology. Adding to the excitement, Indraadip Dasgupta has composed the film's soundtrack.
Shastri will release alongside other Puja blockbusters, such as Srijit Mukherji's Tekka, starring Dev, and Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy's action-thriller Bohurupi.
