Hostel Days, a web series brought to life by Satyaki Kundu and Souvik Mondal, effortlessly transports viewers into the familiar world of Indian hostels, particularly those in Bengal. From nostalgic trips to Mandarmani to invaluable tips on studying, this captivating tale delves deep into the trials and tribulations of hostel life, presenting a tapestry of amusing anecdotes along the way.
Enter Anindya Sengupta, a relatable character and renowned food vlogger. As he savors a delectable dish at a local hotel, memories of his talented friend Pari, also known as Arpan Ghoshal, spring to mind. Driven by a desire to reconnect with his long-lost companion, Anindya embarks on a quest to find him. Joined by another friend, their journey becomes a gateway to reminiscing about their shared past and the series of events that brought them together.
Here is where the story truly comes to life, as a surprising revelation unfolds. Not only is Pari an exceptional student but an unmatched culinary genius as well. Skilled casting and innovative cinematography leave a lasting impact on viewers, heightening the intrigue as the plot thickens. However, it must be acknowledged that although the series possesses remarkable qualities, it occasionally succumbs to rushed storytelling and minor plot discrepancies.
In the second part of the series, something seemed amiss. The last few episodes felt hurriedly put together, almost as if they were forced. However, amidst this rushed narration, Kanchan Mullick mesmerized viewers with a remarkable extended cameo, flawlessly portraying his character. The hostel gang members brought laughter with their unique quirks, yet one can't help but feel that their characters deserved a lengthier series to truly flourish. Sadly, the directors chose an ending that was somewhat predictable, dampening the overall experience. Nevertheless, there is a certain allure in indulging in wistful melancholia, which permeates throughout this series. The director duo cleverly includes common clues that are bound to touch the hearts of many.
In summary, Hostel Days is an enthralling and relatable web series that explores the ups and downs of hostel life through a lens of humor and nostalgia. With its remarkable cast and visual storytelling, this show has the power to captivate audiences and keep them longing for more.
