Film Review:
The film is more of treatment based rather than story based. The film followed a linear pattern. You all have known by now that the story is a prequel. You will get the same old dialogues of 22e Shrabon & Vinci Da. Not only that, both the characters Prabir Chatterjee & Bijoy Poddar has been taken from these two films. Before proceeding to the review, I will tell about the story in brief
From the very first it is shown a serial killer is continuously committing crimes. To solve the case from crime branch comes Prabir & Bijoy. How the murder is taking place and who is committing the murder is all about the story. Those who have already seen are well aware what has happened actually but why the murder taking place is the big question. The mystery unfolds for those who haven’t seen the film yet.
The film stars Prosenjit Chatterjee as Prabir and Anirban Bhattacharya as Bijoy. We also see Jaya Ahsan and many other talented actors. One name which is definitely to be mentioned is Jishu Sengupta. The positive points include the making of the film. We all know that Srijit Mukherjee loves to make intellectual films with a rich art form and humor but in this film he gave a complete commercial treatment.
Technically the cinematographer has taken good shots specially the chase sequence between Jishu and officers. The rest if I talk about the editing, color gradation and background music. It looks and sounds good. The chemistry between Prabir & Bijoy is quite commendable. Even Jishu’s acting is eye catching
Coming to the negative points. The storyline is totally flat. Fans do not expect such a cliché flat story from Srijit Mukherjee. It’s not easy to make a prequel and the director has admitted himself about this. The core concept should be well made so that a bridge or connection exists between present making and past films. The linkage is not proper. Since the film is a crime-drama we expect there should be ruthless and heinous act And specially if it is not visible in the looks of the character then the film does not fits the genre. Jishu Sengupta tried to makeup the loophole with his acting but audience is not so fool, they demand the thrill. Somewhere it feels the crime scenes should have been elongated. The director was in hurry to end the scene at least it seems so. I personally felt the character of Jishu has been suppressed in many scenes which was not required. Jaya Ahsan’s acting is flawless we all know that but in this film she does not match with Anirban. This is a subjective perspective. Rest you all decide after watching the film
Throughout the film there are a lot of slangs used. Though audience is accustomed with such languages from 22e Shrabon still I feel. The director could have given a different direction standing in 2023. It’s quite obvious from the audience to expect a twist in the climax but expectations will not be fulfilled I see the way. Lastly one thing 22e Shrabon when released took audience to a different level of expectations but Dawshom Awbotaar has not succeeded in doing so. The rest you will see and decide and let us know in our comment section.
