Dakghor web series review : The series mesmerizes viewers with its breathtaking landscapes, as vast expanses of green and earthy hues set the tone for this enchanting tale. Immerse yourself in a tranquil world where the locals embrace superstitions and gods, yet find amusement in a grown man's fear of a harmless snake or innocently inquire about embarrassingly awkward matters, leaving outsiders utterly bewildered. Enter Damodar Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, the intriguing new postmaster, welcomed with a mix of apprehension and relief. Skilled in addressing the concerns of the townsfolk, he employs both logic and occasional outbursts to tackle their queries. However, Damodar harbors secrets and a hidden agenda of his own, gradually unraveling as the gripping narrative unfolds over seven captivating episodes.
However, here is perhaps where the story often loses momentum, where incidents and stories seem to be hanging from loose threads, barely held together. The sudden flurry of affection the villagers shower on him, or the random conspiracies, often seem quite artificial, and sometimes a little too easy an explanation. The story moves on a very slow pace until about the last two episodes where the script speeds up, but still doesn’t deliver the kind of satisfactory result it should have given, making a run for a rather cliched climax. As an actor, Suhotra does put forward a strong performance, matched well by Ditipriya as Monjori, whose husky words meticulously mingles with the earthy, simple character she portrays.
Perhaps one of the things that could have been bettered is the role Kanchan Mullick portrays through the series and more could have been built there, although Mullick’s comic timing and a natural flair for the absurd makes for some shockingly hilarious moments in the otherwise slow-moving story. The music, performed, among others, by Durnibar Saha is sweet, and the use of certain songs in certain moments of interest in the course of the series is quite entertaining, making this a light-hearted watch if one doesn’t mind the meandering storyline.
