Dabaru: It is all about a life less ordinary!
About the story:
The film Dabaru revolves around the life of Surya Shekhar Ganguly, the youngest Grandmaster of India. In a country where the government does not stand by a player when he is struggling, it is really difficult; particularly when someone is coming from a low middle class background. And in case of Souro, he was even less fortunate because he played chess and not cricket or football. Fortunately his talent was spotted at an early age by his grandfather Naveen Kumar and mother Karuna Devi, but they didn't have the means to back him. Along with these two supportive souls, he fought against all the odds to make his way to coach Rathindra's chess club, after defeating players who were double his age. In between, he got the opportunity to play in Germany but that was far from easy because his family didn't have money to support his
travel. Thus they borrowed money from Raju Sen, a nasty money lender, who would go to any extent to extract the last penny from his clients. Therefore young Souro had many opponents outside the chess board, too, whom he had to defeat to emerge victorious. Taking off from the inspiring tale of triumph of Surya Shikhar Ganguly, Dabaru is all about a life less ordinary.

If I tell you about this film in a nut shell, this is basically a biography of Surya Shekhar
Gangopadhyay, as I have already mentioned. Now let me talk about the cast and crew of the movie. Here we find Rituparna Sengupta, Chiranjit Chakraborty, Kaushik Sen, Shankar Chakraborty and others. Here everyone is a renowned actor. They have worked brilliantly in this movie. Actually everyone is simply outstanding in his or her role.
All along the film you will notice that there was a lot of familie struggles centring Surya Sekhar's becoming Grandmaster. But all through this, he never gave up. Not only that, as you know that films of Windows always explore family relationships and emotional tiles. Thus, first love of young Surya Sekhar's life is also included in this film. But how it is imbibed in the story line that you have to watch yourself. And not only that; all his other ties like relationship between his father and mother, that between his grandfather and his mother or his own relationship with his coach Rathindra, all these are explored in details. There is one particular scene where you willfind that when he is joining Rathindra's coaching, he is actually completing with people double
his age and defeating all of them. This is showing his talent.
Now let me talk about the technical aspects of the film. Aritro Banerjee's screenplay is simply fabulous. There's nothing left to talk about Madhura Palit's work. You have already seen her work as the DOP in several films and here also she is spectacular. Her photography is brilliant and the way she has captured certain angles to bring out the essence of motivation, is simply awesome. Thus the scenography all through out the film is going to make you think.
And not just that. This film is not just about chess. This film has a very relevant message to deliver. It teaches us not to give up under any circumstance. Because every new moment gives rise to hope and this message of hopefulness is there all throughout the film. The colour grading of the film is outstanding and so is the background score. Every song is going to motivate you particularly the title song sung by Rupam Islam. How much that song is relevant to the film that you will understand only after watching it.
Here the work of the creative producer is done by Shibo Prasad Mukherjee himself and there is nothing left to talk about his creation. The dialogues of the film is equally interesting as the storyline. Every dialogue is going to motivate people. Dialogues are written by Arpan Gupta. And the background music which is fantastic is done by Bonnie Chakraborty. Editing is done by MD Kalam. So all these professional individuals together have given us a really brilliant movie and I think all of you should watch this movie.
Verdict :
I have really been impressed by this movie. Windows once again have done an extra ordinary work. I would say that those of you who haven't yet watched the movie, definitely go and watch it. I think this movie is going to be another blockbuster from Windows Production House.
