This new Zee 5 original web series is a crime drama. There is a victim and a suspect and the full story goes like snakes and ladder. Rupsha, a village girl comes to the city to make her own name and she found the easy way by giving physical satisfaction to clients. She ditched her boy-friend because of this. All of a sudden, she gets murdered and investigation starts. This new Zee 5 series has 9 episodes
Indrani Halder makes a comeback in this web series who is playing the role of a politician. Besides, we see Debesh Chatterjee, Lokenath Dey and many unknown new faces who did a great acting like, Sabitri Mondol, who played the role of an investigating officer in this crime drama. Ushashi Roy played the role of Rupsha. Gaurab Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar everyone was good in their act
There are many positive points in this series. As I said, everyone’s acting is good in their own way but the attention seeker has been. Damini Beni Basu who played Sabitri Mondal, a police officer investigating the murder case. In most crime drama we have seen the same stereo type police inspector but here the actor brought realistic shades in her character. The mannerism is eye catching like, blinking eyes is a habit of the character which she has kept throughout the series. Even she is suffering from acidity which she brings well and natural. Ushasi Roy brings a desperateness in her character which the character demands. The slangs she uses gives a naturalistic approach to her character.
The technical part is beautifully placed according to the script specially the work of the editor. The match cut and the transitions are commendable. The director’s vision matters in editing. It is the caliber of a director to detect and eliminate good and bad scenes
We have seen Debesh Chatterjee mostly as a stage director but in this web series he has got enough space as an actor and he has utilized that completely. Even Lokenath Dey’s dialogue timing somewhere gives a comic relief. Any film or web series becomes a hit if the screenplay is best. This web series has that element. We can connect with the dialogues of the character. The story is common but the presentation and script stole the show. The color gradation is also good like in some scenes the dark tone used goes with the mood, the light of the moon making a reflection on the character’s lips and eyes, all these adds a suspense throughout the series.
The cinematographer’s perspective is commendable keeping in mind the environment a character is talking and his philosophy with which the dialogue is delivered. Gaurab Chatterjee’s music is just flawless. It goes completely with the mood of the story. The art direction has been beautifully crafted with the scenes whether slum area or the interior of an influential political leader’s house. The full web series has the effect of timeline. Sometimes it shows the past and then back to present but the connection of this time travel is there in the scenes
There is not much negative points. The pace with which the series started dropped in the end. Maybe the director wanted like this but somewhere it makes monotonous. Since there is no commercial treatment, many may not like the end, audience may feel the boredom but overall story is great and it’s presentation too.
