About the story: Chalchitra Ekhon is a biopic of Mrinal Sen and the role of the protagonist is played by Anjan Dutta himself. How Mrinal Sen made the films, his passion regarding his work, his craziness while making the films - all these things are beautifully depicted in the film.

About the film review: This is a film of different genre and not the usual films which we watch. This is a slow-paced film. I think that the technical aspects of the film are a bit neglected and the main focus has been on the content of the film. Here there are few scenes where the characters are talking but there voices are coming from the background. This is definitely a novel concept but at times a bit boring.
The cinematography of this film is good but owing to the slow-pace of the film, it is not making much an impact. Again there are few places where the still pictures are used. This is also an experimental approach and though it is praise-worthy, at times it is becoming monotonous.
As you all know Anjan Dutta's songs have always been good and you will get a flavour of them in this movie. The lyrics of the songs are definitely good, as always. Anjan Dutta himself has acted quite well. As I have already mentioned, he always shared a special bond with Mr Sen and as a result he has portrayed his character with perfection. His manners like stealing the matchbox, rubbing his thumb on his beard and other small details are captured quit nicely. Those who did not know Mr Sen personally would get to know a lot about him after watching Chalchitra Ekhon.
The background music of the movie is appropriate. One thing which is good about the movie is its length. The length of the film is approximately 1 hour which is good because this is basically a slow-paced film. In today's world how many people are going to watch a film like this with patience, is something that is questionable. Definitely there are audience for this kind of movies but for young generation the film is a bit too slow-paced.
Performance of every actor is more or less good. Particularly Anjan Dutta has played the character of Mr Sen with perfection. Regarding this film I won't say much about the script because this is a very personal relationship which has been depicted on screen and hence the dialogues are very y "homely".
Verdict: This film has already been shown in different film festivals and has been appreciated by both the audience and the film critic. Overall this is a good film and you can definitely go and watch it once and more so because it is the biopic of the legendary film maker Mrinal Sen. And Anjan Dutta has definitely acted well. So you people go and watch and let us know your opinion.
