Bismillah : A Lyrical Journey of a Proud and Talented Rural Artiste
In Bengal's very own musical, "Bismillah," directed by Indraadip Dasgupta, a cast of remarkable actors brings the story to life. Kaushik Ganguly, Gaurav Chakrabarty, and Riddhi Sen shine brightly as they portray the intricate lives of these characters.
At the heart of the film is Ustad Rashid Ali, also known as Kaushik Ganguly, an acclaimed shehnai player. Even when his eldest son Hamid condescends to send him money, Ustad Rashid Ali proudly returns it through a money order.
Following in his father's footsteps is his younger son, Bismillah, played by Gaurav Chakrabarty. Bismillah is naturally gifted in music, particularly in playing the flute. However, due to his nomadic nature, he hesitates to pursue his father's profession. But when he does shift his focus to shehnai, his talent blossoms, and he becomes a star player.
As the story unfolds, Bismillah encounters two mysterious women, Uma and Fatima. These enigmatic figures appear to him as the reincarnations of Radha, while they perceive Krishna within him. The complexity of the plot revolves around the intricate relationships between these three characters.
