Abar Bibaho Obhijaan Film Review

Abar Bibaho Obhijan is a continuation of the Bibaho Obhijan story, in which the men in the film were running away from their wives. In Abar Bibaho Obhijaan, these men are still running away from their wives, but this time in Thailand. It is insane to look for logic in a franchise like Abar Bibaho Obhijaan, but the problem lies in the fact that it fails to offer laughter, irrespective of being a comedy!
The film takes off after a jump of a few years. Abar Bibaho Obhijaan starts with Bullet Singh (Anirban Bhattacharya) being released from jail (he was sentenced in the first film). After coming out, he connects with Anupam (Ankush Hazra) and Rajat (Rudranil Ghosh) and tells them that he has been left a hotel in Bangkok, by his father, worth Rupees 100 crores. He also tells them that he wants to give half of it to them. The other two cannot naturally resist the temptation and decide to accompany Bullet to Bangkok in order to claim and split the property. That obviously leads the to a lot of trouble.
The plot is extremely slow in the first half, and is dotted with repetitive dull moments. The pace is further slowed down by blatant advertorial product placements . The second half is a little better paced, thanks to the introduction of a bunch of new characters. The most memorable of these is Michael (Sourav Das), who, with his presence and bizarre dialect, manages to incite a considerable number of funny moments.
This is followed by several plot twists and too much distortion of words to make them sound more like a particular country’s accent. At times, the audience fails to keep up with the language and what the characters are saying without subtitles. Nothing much can salvage the film and it fails to entertain the audience. So much so that even a mere two hours seem endless and yawning.
Anirban is perhaps the most entertaining in the lot, followed closely by Rudranil. Among the three female characters, Sohini has the meatiest role, and she dramatises it to no end.
The positive point of the film is its music. Compositions by Jeet Gannguli are quite peppy, especially Mon Bajare. However, the bizarrely non-funny plot and lack of character development makes Abar Bibaho Obhijan a badly attempted comedy.
